Eddie C. Brown founded Brown Capital Management on July 1, 1983, and currently serves as the chairman of the firm’s board of directors, as well as a member of its Management Committee. With over 40 years of investment experience, Eddie previously held the position of Vice President and portfolio manager at T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. for a decade before launching his own firm.
Eddie holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Howard University, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from New York University, and an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He also holds the professional designations of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Investment Counselor (CIC).
His contributions have been recognized through several honorary degrees, including Doctor of Humane Letters from Howard University, Johns Hopkins University, Bowie State University and the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA); a Doctor of Public Service from Morgan State University; and a Doctor of Business Administration from McDaniel College. Eddie has served on the Board of Directors of the Open Society Institute–Baltimore and as a member of the National Cabinet for the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
Eddie has been honored as a distinguished alumnus by both Howard University and the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Labor, he served a three-year term on the ERISA Advisory Council. He also gained national recognition as a regular panelist on the television program Wall Street Week With Louis Rukeyser for 25 years, and he was inducted into the show’s Hall of Fame. He is the author of Beating the Odds: Eddie Brown’s Investing and Life Strategies, which chronicles his upbringing and investment philosophies.
